Question on Base Rock

Dead Rock, Dry Rock, Base Rock...

Call it what you want. I purchase something called Lace Rock and it costs me about $1.69/lb at the LFS.

Is this a good deal? Online probably better but after shipping?

Is this comparable to LFS around the country?

This stuff works pretty well, it is plenty crevicey (is that really a word?) Is there something better and/or cheaper?

I have seen the Lava Rock and the Tufa, both didn't look good. The Tufa was too soft and the Lava too Red.

Thanks
WG

Do you have a pix of this lace rock? If it is no land based rock then it's ok to use.

Is this a good deal? Online probably better but after shipping? sounds like a good price - less than $2 a lb.

Not at that price. Just depends on what type of look you are looking for. Tonga branch is nice but more than what you paid, Kanneili, is about $3.50 lb or so.

Lava would not make a good "rock" for the tank. Will leach back what every metals are in the rock and would probably have die off. Have never seen a salt tank w/lava rock in it before.
Thanks

Lace rock is nothing but land based rock i have been using it for years in my sps tank never had a problem. But when i got it it was realy dirty and needeed to be scrubbbed real well. Other than that its good to use no phosphates or any junk like that.
