1. I have my sump built (20 long), now should I put a chunk of live rock in there or just leave it empty?

2. I have some dead coral that I wanted to put in my tank, is this a good idea? The guy that I got it from had it in his tank, how can I clean it?

3. With plumbing my tank, can I just have the tank drain into my sump, go through the skimmer, and then get returned by a 400 gal/hr pump. Is that strong enough to pump the water back up about 4ft? or should I bet a bigger pump?

the return pump really depends on the size of the tank, and what your drain can handle. most sites that sell pumps will have the specs for each pump. it should tell you how much your pump will push at 4', i would check to see just what your getting out of it, and go from there.
