Question about red sea turbo skimmer

I have the Red Sea Berlin Turbo, it is rated at 250g tank (I have maybe 120-130).

It has "venturi action" hence the air line to the pump, the pump (which makes it a turbo v the classic) has an 18 blade impeller "TurboJet air injector". So is it a needlewheel or purely a venturi.

As some may know I am looking to upgrade my skimmer with a DIY.

I have the pump on full bore and the air clamped or else the bubbles are too thick/hard they push the cap off, turning down the air still gives me skimmate.

I still get nuisance algae but I attribute most of that to my crappy water, I am getting the RO/DI this week.

So is this skimmer just not effective or have I skimmed out what I can and the rest is too dissolved to be skimmed out and the algae sucks it up? I guess I am just not sure how much I should be gettign out.
