Question about Foam under the tank...
I have a 120gallon tank and am going to be using 1" foam sheet underneath it, I need to know how much compression I should expect with that much weight load? My dimentions are: LxWxH 60x18x26.
I need to know as I am building the trim boarder for my tank stand and don't want to guess too much or too little.
Thanks!

Is this a tank with a flat glass bottom? Or a tank that has a plastic trim around the bottom which keeps the bottom glass elevated off the stand top?
I use foam with flat glass bottoms,.. I think it's too big of a risk to use foam on a tank with a trim.
I don't know how much compression on 1" foam, I've always used 3/8" or 1/2" foam and it didn't compress much.

100% agree with whiskey, and the foam won't squish a whole lot.

That is a very good question.
I have only used foam under acrylic tanks, which as Whiskey atated are flat bottoms.

Thanks guys!
I have never used foam in the past, I have only every heard about the use of it on here. Yes, my tank does have a plastic trim. Also, I was using a 1" piece of foam as a guage. Just to see how much it would compress. If I were to go ahead with it, I would use 3/8".

So, since you've got the trim, you won't be using any foam, right?

Nah, don't think so. Like I said earlier, I have never used it in the past and have never had a problem. So... why change anything.
