question about (cannibal?) shrimp

while i was away on vacation my husband said he saw the cleaner shrimp fighting over the body (not a molt) of a peppermint shrimp. would they have likely attacked and killed the peppermint? because they were hungry (he did feed the tank while I was gone...but you never can be sure something's done right unless you do it yourself, right?!)? I cant think of why the peppermint would have died. just curious if anyone thinks the cleaners would have attacked the peppermint or if it just died. thanks for tolerating such a silly question

Not a silly question at all. IME, they won't attack one another - I keep them together all the time in my sell tanks. However, if the pep just croaked, the cleaner would clean him up.

Others might have different experiences but that's mine fwiw
