Quarantine tank question

G'day guys,
I plan on getting a blue hippo tang but want to quarantine him when i bring him home for a couple of weeks. I have my old 20gal that i can use but what gear do i need. I have a small HOB filter from and old FW setup. Would this be enough combined with some small pieces of LR. I am assuming i will have to cycle the tank for a couple of weeks. The tank will never have a high bioload.

Would this be enough or should i get a small PH and conected it to a sponge filter?

Do i need to quarantine at all?

Your thoughts please.

My opinion, I have a qt tank now but never used it yet...
Mine is just a 15g (a little small gonna see if I can trade it in for something a little bigger)
anyways there's no need for LR in there. Cause if you wanna treat it you can never put the rock back in a display.
Make a few hiding spots out of pvc or other aquarium plastic decoration stuff. You can take some tank water and mix with some fresh in the tank.
Just put a HOB filter there and maybe a powerhead.
That should be fine.
Others may disagree
but HTH

Cosine is right on all counts, especially about the rock. PVC works fine.
If you are worried about the water quality of the qt tank you can easily compensate with more frequent water changes, just borrow water from the display, and make sure you always toss the water from the qt tank.

IMO, qt the tang for sure. The nickname "ick magnet" wasn't an accident.
