Quarantine tank help

I have a 20g long Quarantine/Hospital Tank with a 1” drain but the only spare pump I have is a Mag Drive 7.
It is too fast for the drain so can I use a valve to throttle it down + a spray bar?
If so what damage will it do to the pump?

I do have a maxi-jet 1200 I could use but seeing how it will be the only flow for the tank I’d rather use the mag drive 7 pump.

I need the tank asap

Thanks
Terry

Sorry for the bump …but I need to run to Home Depot soon.
I really don’t want a flood on the floor

I don't really understand the question. Are you asking about return pump for a sump? A CLS? A 1 in drain can handle about 600 gph of flow, so with a few feet of head pressure, a Mag 7 will put out maybe 300 gph so you should be OK if you plan to use it for a return pump. You CAN put a valve on the OUTFLOW side of a Mag pump to turn the flow down (never restrict the intake) if you need to.

I’m sorry for the confusion, yes it has a sump and the mag 7 is for the return pump.
The tank has a 1” drain but the stand is only 18” off the floor so the head will be about 30”.

So I can put a valve on the out put side of the pump to turn it down?

thanks
