QT tanks

Are QT tanks not just another way to stress your fish out even more? I mean its bad enough moving them from one tank to another, but to move them from one tank to a QT then to another .... would that not be even worse and increase their chances of say ... ich?

What are your thoughts on QT tanks?

You really should QT so you lessen the chance of getting your main tank infected.

I put in a little sand, and a few rubble pieces, I still need to pick up a couple of plastic plants.

I mostly did the rubble since I have so much of it, orginally I was going to throw in a couple of fake plastic rocks (I still may swap out the rubble for fake rocks).

A bare tank may be less work I like it better with a little something in it since it is right next to me in my home office.

My LFS owner takes very good care of her tanks so getting a sick fish should be rare for me, in those cases I'll have to do a little extra work.

Have Fun.

it totally matters on how you plan on using the QT tank. i would not put sick fish in a QT, this causes more stress. i would however put brand new critters in a QT for a bit to make sure they are fine before adding them to the system. QT tanks are really best used as a preventative method before critters are added to a system.

Agreed, I think there needs to be a distinction between QT and Hospital Tanks

I am asking only about QT tanks, not hospital tanks. Hospital tanks is a whole new issue haha. I am just talking about bringing a new fish home for the first time type of QT tank.

Yes use a QT Tank, It gives the Fish etc a chance to rest and get strong again from the stress of shipping etc.

I actually think it may actually be Less stressful, Kinda like going into work on a weekend with nobody else around.
