QT/Frag Tank

So with limited resources, since I have a 20gal tall I wanted to create a QT down in my utility room. I wanted to include a bottom layer of frags since there will be plenty of room top to bottom.

My question is, in a tank that small will T-5's be sufficient or should I just get a single halide type fixture?? I amtrying to upgrade my already brand new fixture for my DT so I want to spend as little as possible on SUFFICIENT lighting...

Thanks ahead of time,

Justin

T5 lighting should be fine over it.

The bigger question is what are you going to do with the frags if you need to medicate a fish in the quarantine tank?

DT I guess wolf... Moving them temporarily will be my only option I guess... Since it is a 24 in tank, will 2x 24 w T5's be enough?

My only concern would be if you needed to place the corals back in that tank after the treatment. I would rather make a small frag rack in the display tank than to risk having to medicate and then not having a place to put the frags.

Depending on what types of frags you are wanting to grow out, that lighting may be enough. You could always use the egg crate to build a rack to get them up closer to the light. You can check out the link below to my 54 gallon tank for an idea of how I did my rack.

If i don't have to skim the QT, which I am asking whether I have to or not, then I guess I could use the 20 as my frag/prop tank and use an old/or new cheap 10 gallon for the QT... RIght?

That may be a better plan. With tanks that size, most people do not skim but really on pretty consistent water changes to keep things stable.
