QT cycling

I have been thinking of keeping my QT running long term. I want to cylce the QT, but I am not doing it with any live rock. I just have the couple pieces of pvc, powerheard, heater, and filter. I was adding a couple pieces of flake food to help start the ammonia. After a few days of testing I finally saw my Ammonia levels rise from 0ppm to 0.25ppm. I have stopped the feeding. Should I just keep testing everyday to see when the ammonia levels drop and when nitrites rise?

just let it sit for a week, then re test. look for nitraite to rise. You could put in some cycled water to help it along.
