PVC rock lift problems
I cut my PVC segments for my rock lift. I am having a real hard time getting the PVC to stay under water long enough so i can place the rocks on them. They are just floating away in the water. How does everyone keep the PVC from floating away? Drill holes in the PVC ? will this help from floating away?

drilling holes so they fill with water will help, but you will also have very stagnant water in them after a little time

No they are not connected. just segments of 3" and 4" long pvc

Andy,
Why would drilling holes in the pvc give you stagnant water?

I wondered what he meant too
Can you use some of that underwater epoxy stick to temporarily tack them down while you work?

it'll be stagnant because even though they are open they really won't get any flow... i would fill them with freshwater just before you glue the caps on the lifts in place, then they will sink, and be totally sealed...

If i seal them with end caps, the end caps are crescent shaped and wont sit flat on the tank bottom. If i fill them with freshwater then cap them, wouldnt this make the water stagnant?

riddle them with holes
I assure you it wont be as stagnant as if you didnt put any holes in them in the first place
I would put fairly large holes in them. If you space them properly you wont lose any strength. kind of stagger them diagonally all over the pipe
