Putting my new 340 gal tank together, this should be fun!

Well, what do you do with a perfectly good 180 gallon reef tank? That's right!

You rip it down and up grade to a bigger tank.

Why upgrade the tank? For one my corals were out growing my tank and two with the new size I will be able to aquascape better. Three well what's more enjoyable for a reefer then building a reef?

The new tank has been built by James at envision acrylics and is 3/4 inch acrylic that is 72" L x 36" W x 30" T.

I went with a black back ground and two external over flows.

James also pre-drilled my closed loop for me.

The stand and canopy for the tank are still in limbo I am susposed to pick them up this weekend. i am keeping my fingers crossed.

Speaking of the CL I am going to run a Hammerhead for the CL. It has two screen intakes and 6 returns two on each end and two in the middle. The loc line you see can be shorten if needed, and my goal is to have that completly hidden by the live rock. My return pump is a dart.

The barracuda is rated for 1200-3800 and the dart is 600-3200GPH
So am not sure on the head loss but i think i will get 3000 "guess out of the barracuda and 2500 out of the dart so 5500 gallons per hour/360 gallons including sump.
Thats 15x's an hour.
I am also along with the CL running the Dart return through a pair of SS. This should ensure no dead spots.

I am sticking with what has worked for me in the past so no fuge but i do have this 65 gallon sump i had built. Its 36'lx 20"x20"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nkBuild010.jpg

i am going to feed my skimmer return into the filter media area on the left along with the two returns from the tank. The flow will go from left to right three feet then by pressure go thru the three blk bh you see. I will be add downward pointing elbows to these. That will stop bubbles from going to the other side where the water will go three feet right to left and to my return pump.
The whole back half also has removable lids that are not in the picture.
