Pumping Xenia or Mushrooms
I've been debating all day whether I should get a Pom Pom Pumping Xenia or some Mushrooms for LiveAquaria. I've always wanted a Xenia, and they are aquacultured, so they include a 30-day guarantee. I have 260 watts of PC lighting (55 gallon tank).
Fish are:
Dragonette
True Percula Clown
Bi-color Angel (doesn't touch my colt coral)
Royal Gramma Basslet
Would one be better than the other?
Thanks,
Nate

Try and buy the "Pom Pom" or "Giant Bali" xenia. Worth every penny IMHO
I have some giant bali i propagate about once a month, but it's a bad shipper.

Xenia is usually pretty easy to get from a local reef club. You're listed as being from the US. If you can narrow it down a bit, you might find that there are people fairly close that are willing to share. I never thought I'd like mushrooms, but now that I have some, I want more! The Xenia was fascinating at first, but to tell you the truth, it grows so fast that it almost seems like a weed.

Quoted for truth.
Also for some unknown reason not everyone can grow Xenia. For a number of people Xenia just dies off, while everyone can grow mushrooms.

I agree with every one here, Xenia is tricky even though the dealer will say it's not. I would go with the mushrooms - - they are usually cheaper too.

I guess I'll go with the mushrooms. Are they usually shipped attached on rock? Are ricordia mushrooms harder than normal mushrooms? What about the Bi- Color Angel, will the mushroom be safe with it?
Also, my True Perc has begun to host in my Colt Coral. The last Clown that tried to host in my Long Tentacle Plate Coral ended up killing it, will it have the same effect on the Colt?
Thanks,
Nate
