My buddy uses a MJ600 and turns it back with the supplied ballvalve.

I had mine driven both ways:
-MJ400
-"T" off return pump hose.
I didn't like the idea of having another electrical device running in my system and I had some extra flow from my return pump that I was willing to give up.
