Pump and Filter Questions

Ok I purchased a 55G RR tank stand filter all goodies from a local sale got a good deal. The filter is a LF1-125 the skimmer is VS3-24 the 2 pumps are Little Giant 3 for the main pump and little giant 2 for the Skimmer. my thoughts are do u think these pumps are over kill for a 55G. My thought was to replace these 2 pumps with more efficient pumps. I bought the tank filter lights ext all together. Should I just use these 2 pumps and the setup how it was. Any suggestions thanks.

what do you mean by more efficient pumps. those pumps are fairly efficient as they are. going with different pumps will change the way the tank is run.

you can check the Little Giant website. i thought that they did not need lubricating. as far as the noise, welcome to SW aquaria. it is very difficult to find quiet pumps. they all say quiet on the packaging, but in reality most are not. the only ones i know of that are truely silent are Velocity pumps by Blue Line. these are the only pumps i run in an occupied part of a house. any other pump i put in the basement so that it will not be heard.

Those are great pumps if they are in good shape.
