pricing for tables at frag swaps
Hey guys!
I am on an events committee for my local reef club.
We are in the planning stages of our 2nd frag sawp and I am wondering what clubs usually charge for tables for people wanting to sell frags at their events.
I am looking for the following info
price charged for seller
what was included in said price
did your event have different options for prices,
ie half table full table, added advertising or other incentives
did you offer pre mixed salt water?
when did were they allowed to set up?
Thanks in advance!
Amy

$40-60 sounds fair but most club swaps I’ve been to have been free aside from huge events that cost a lot of money to promote. An idea that just popped in to my head is instead of money the member can donate x amount of frags for the table belonging to the club so the club can make its money that way. Just a thought ffice ffice" />>>

In my club it's free to sell things at auction, but the club get's (I think) 10% of the money made from what you sell.
At the events where there is no auction all the tables are free and no money is brought into the club becides the raffle. These events all sales are party to party and the club stays out of them.
The club we had in this area that charged dues and stuff like that ended up failing pretty quickly.

This is a larger type event like with stores that come in and sell frags and stuff. Last year we had Rod's reef come as well as someone from uber frags and a few other larger chicago coral folks as well as local people.
this isn't just people within the club trading with each other
think raffel prizes and door prizes ect.....

If I remember correctly we paid $350-$450 last year for a large booth (10x15) at RAP that had 2000 people attending. This year its $1200 for the same both but its going to be a two day event; probably 2500-3000 people.
Estimate how much its going to cost and how much the club wants to make then go from there.

Amy I'll try to dig up some info from CMAS and let you know what I can find they have frag swaps a few times a year.
Also did you check the Rockford Fragfest site ? see what they charge for a table

I'm a member of the Rockford club. We spent a lot of time on figuring prices and trying to keep them as low as possible. You need to find a venue and try to get an idea of what your expenses will be and what you want to do for the event. What you charge vendors/LFS/attendees is going to be determined by how much it will cost you to put the event on. I don't know how helpful this is, but there's a lot of variables that can go into pricing.

Amy,
Membership has its privileges. (not sure where that fits, but I figured I would throw it out there).
In our club, people regularly set up shop (large and small) at the informal tables. No charge. For a big event, if you are charging admission and you are charging vendors for tables, you almost have to charge them. Especially if they want electric and/or you are providing water. There should be a Member Price, and Non-Member price, a Sponsor Vendor price and a non-sponsor price.

Good luck with the planning! Our tank better be ready for livestock by November! Normal is not too far so hopefully we'll be able to make it.
