Pre-Fab Kitchen Cabinets

Hi,

Has anyone here ever used pre-fabbed kitchen cabinets for their stand? I have a 23' wall that I will be putting a 8' 240 on but we would like to make the stand the whole width of the wall for extra storage with book shelves above. If I did my math right the tank weighs roughly 150lbs per square foot. This doesn't seem overly outragous. 23' of cabinets would take me a very long time to make so I thought about going pre-fabbed?

funny you mention this
a prefab cabinet got me back into reefing!
we had our basement refinished and tore down prefac cabinets. they were sitting on the floor waiting to be garbage when i light bulb went on above my head
i had a spare 10g tank and it would have fit perfectly on the cabinet
almost 2 years later its still holding up. i upgraded to a 15g tall (which is the same legnth of a 10g) and it never budged
i should have kept them all and lined them up. i bet i could have gotten a 125g on those babies

they are very strong!
ooo and the little shelves are perfect for foods and stuffed animals!

i think it would work even if it meant a little extra bracing under the tank, better safe then sorry!

No expert here but I would want to reinforce them myself (and I wouldn't use that wafer board/composite, I would get something solid)

1 gallon = 8.34(fresh)-8.5(salt) lbs

240 gallon if I am reading you right is 2040lbs which is alittle over a ton
