Powerhead killed my Blenny???

I got up this morning and went in to check my tank as usual, and found a sad, sad sight. Seems that my new Blenny, over his overwhelming interest for my powerhead, got eaten. He was crammed up in the outer cap I have in place to keep something like this from happening. He was really chewed up, and I am guessing that he got up in the intake when it was off and got sucked in?

Has this happened to anyone else? I searched the boards with no similar story, anemones of course, but no fish deaths from a powerhead with its safety intake cap on. I guess I will have to make some type of cage for it. This is the second Benny Ive lost in the past 3 months, the other I never found assuming he jumped out although my tank is covered really well. Im thinking now that he got into the powerhead as well, and eventually got blended. This one was barely visible, with just his tail sticking out of the intake cap

Thanks in advance for any input here.

Dustin

Oh that's sad

And yes, I've seen that happen to fish. Are your PH's on a timer/wavemaker? Blennies especially like little holes in high places where they can look out on the tank. I had a bicolor blennie that did that so often that I let him have a dead PH in the back of the tank as a home, kept him out of the other ones. Although he would go in there when the pumps were off for feeding and then go shooting across the tank when I turned the pump back on!

Hi Dustin! Sorry to hear of your loss of your blenny! I had a fish get stuck to the powerhead one time but caught it in time and the fish survived! Johnny
