Power management.

After reading some threads today on another forum, and seeing pics of ppls burned houses from fires caused by thier salt water tanks, I got curious as what everyone here uses.I know coralife power bars with the built in timer are a fire hazard, so I hope no one here uses one. Sometimes its just regular power bars, or water getting into them as well that can cause it.

So share what you use to keep your reef alive.

Here is whats under my tank ....... for now. I do plan to change it after reading those stories.

I use a GFI on all of mine,.. it's a cheap safty device that has saved me before,.. My tank also uses a DJ controller with a 15A breaker in it for added protection.

From my experience with GFI they are no different then a cheap surge protector. Also, are they not just to prevent shocks? not fires?

14 sockets, 11 of which with their own switches, the other 3 on timers. Wired into the house main with its own 20 amp breaker. Both of my systems have one of these power supplies

I made the second one. My father designed and made the unit for me. I copycatted it to a T as that is the extent of my electrical skills. I can copy something if its sitting there to look at. lol

show off

seriously though it looks good, nice clean look.

Mine is appears disheveled, but it is all hidden from view and loops everywhere. Just have to GFI on either side.

I was thinking of making my own box but if something were to happen and I did that, then insurance would laugh at me for sure.
