Power Head Placement
Well, while I would really love a Seaswirl or something of that sort, It will have to wait till the Sump and all that good stuff is added later down the road.
Im looking for a good way to place my 2 MJ 900s in my 50 Show. I have found it incredibly hard to get good flow to all areas and was wondering if anyone had suggestions of ways to place the Phs in the tank.
Pictures would be even better. Right now I have two pointd towards the center, but because of the Tank size, it creates a super violent wave effect in the middle which just looks vicious.
Any help is appreciated! BTW, using a seaswirl does require it to be hooked up to your return correct? This was the impression I was given.

The only thing that I know about current in tanks is what my LPS told me, keep the currents flowing against eachother.

Hey Joe,
You may want to attach the powerheads to a piece of pvc with a cap on the end. Drill a hole with a 3/16" bit every 4 to 6 inches down the length of the pipe. Make the pipe about 8 inches shorter than the length of your tank (or the depth if for the corners). Fit the output of the Maxijet to the open end of the pipe. You can then place one spraybar low in the tank and one near the top of the tank (horizontally, or put them in the corners and direct your holes in several directions, pull surface water to the bottom of the tank.) Several options when doing this, experimentation with the number of holes and the size and spacing will help you customize your setup. I use this to make a spraybar in the lower levels of the tank behind the rockwork in the display tank.
HTH.

I have my 2 MJ 900's pointed at each other one at the left, the other at the right but at different levels so they both shoot the entire width of the tank... one is at the top of the LR, the other at the middle point, and I also have the spraybar TD was talking about against the wall blowing at the back of the liverock, one set of holes blowing straight out, another set at a 45 degree angle
