Power failure for 4 hours!

Man the power around here is bad, this is the second 4 - 5 hour failure in the last 3 months. Anyhow, I was at work, so a bit paranoid to what I would find when I got home.

However, what I found was that my $99 C.T. backup was still at 80%!! and the tanks were doing just fine ... That thing is great!

Let's hear more about your backup system. How much, where did you get it, what is it hooked to? We all could use a backup power supply.

This is it, I have posted it here before in case you are wondering. Its a $99 NOMA 400w power backup, it went on sale from $200 so I jumped on it. Its running one heater in each of my tanks, and a filter on one, and a power head on the other. After 4 hours the batt was still at 80% so I am guessing I could get anywhere from 8 - 10 hours out of it.

awesome. I REALLY need to get one of these...

this is my BIGGEST fear. All this work I do on the tank, and all I need is ONE power failure to crash it all.

Very smart set up.

Thanks for the info. Is "NOMA" a Canadian brand? I haven't heard of it before. The only stuff I commonly see around here is "APC" brand of uninterupted power supply. I wonder if a 40 watt APC would work just as well? Anybody have experience with that?

I looked at APC, actually I had ordered one before I found this. It was going to cost me $300 and would not have lasted more than 2 hours. Nothing beats this for the price. I am not sure if NOMA is a canadian brand or not, but it is sold by Canadian Tire, so could be. SHould beable to get them on ebay though. There is also one model bigger.
