Powder Blue With Ich

I just purchased a powder blue tang on Monday. I know that they are vulnerable to ich. I put him in my tank after acclimation. When I got home from work this evening I noticed that his fins are starting to show some ich. I know that I should have quarantined him first, but I have not set up a qt tank yet. My tank is a 75gal. All my parameters tested out as, ph 8.1 ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates under 10. My system has been running for 4 months now.

My question is should I put the tang under the stress of putting him in a qt tank and treat with copper, or try garlic or some other remedy first? I am just worried mainly for the other fish in my tank, and I would love to see my tang survive this.

Cleaner shrimp? 4 Months is a new tank for a tang like a PB. By no means am I ragging on ya, I did the same thing. I actually killed 2 of them b4 I found one to live well. If you can(and this one does not make it) get one from a previous owner so it has been in a tank b4.

I know my tank is still a little immature, I just got a great deal on him, and got a little excited.

Did you buy him from Albany's Amazing Aquarium bag sale? If so, I probably saw you in there. I bought the second one. Mine has shown small signs of ich, but I am not very worried. My yellow tang did the same thing for about a week or so, then I invested in a leaner shrimp. A few days later, my tang got better and has not shown any more signs of ich. For this reason, I am not very worried for my PB. Make sure to get cleaner shrimp and to feed him well 2x per day.
