possible brittle star?

I bought my first live rock today for my nano. It is fiji rock that has lots of purple/red on it. I am new to this hobby but could I have possibly got a brittle star that clinged on to my rock? There is a miniature version of a star in the sand making its way back to my rock. If that isn't possible is there anything else it could be? If it is a brittle star would he even have a chance to survive being only a 1/4in across? One thing I am ticked about is that one of my coralife 50/50 already crapped out on me after oh maybe 10 hours of use.

I've had quite a few of those little white starfish in my tank.
I think that they are a differant type that only get to about 1"
They are cool to watch.

Do they actually live for a while and kinda scrounge around off algae or something or will it just die off?

I think they will live a while I havn't kept one seperate to keep an eye on it
but I see them all the time.
I can pick up a small piece of LR from the sand ant there will be one ore more under it
clinging to the rock.
I see them out at night.

take the light back and get a replacement, they should last much longer than that

I got a bunch of tiny to small stars on my rock. They have been there since the beginning and are still here. The make great detrivores.

I tried to take that light back and it was past my 15 day garantee so they said I would have to contact the manufacturer. Ticks me off.

I'm surpirsed the store wouldn't step up and take care of it for you. Seems like they don't want to go through a little paper work, or make a short call to their vendor. If I were you, I'd be looking for a new store to shop, or consider buying online. I had a store warranty out a light fixture after 3 months, and after the second time the replacement fixture did it, he pulled them all off the shelf and stopped carrying them. BTW, it was a popular name lighting company, not some $60 setup you run across sometimes.
