Positioning of Power Compacts in Relation to Metal Halide

I'm thinking of rigging up a pair of 28 watt power compacts into my metal halide pendant, but I'm a little worried about their close proximity to the metal halide bulb. They will probably be a couple inches away.....is that too close to the bulb that the heat could damage them, or will they be ok? Thanks.

i think the heat might be too much. you want 5-6" unless you can seperate them with metal shielding.
