Porcelain, Anemone and Nemo =)
I have a question regarding the compatibility with Procelain Crabs and the "Nemo" clownfish. I have two clownfishes hosting in my Sebae anemone (well actually one. I think the female? the other one floats near the anemone). Will it be possible for a Porcelain crab and a clownfish to live on the same anemone? Or must these have their own seperate anemones? ^_^ Have a good day everyone.

Not sure on that one but clowns are quite protective of their host, so the crab might be pushed out. Also, look around at the clownfishes and check out the common or scientific names; your "Nemo" is prolly an ocellaris, or percula.

i agree with Vince,
the crab will get pushed out sooner later. it is possible that he will lose a leg or a claw too. ( they will grow back) it is a defence thing!. althought he does not need an anenome to host with, actually neither need one for hosting. think you can get a nice picture of him? they are cool looking!

Oh. Hehe. I don't have a Porcelain yet. I just wanted to make sure before I invested in it. Thanks for the info though. I wouldn't want it to get hurt =[ But they don't need a host? Oooh. goodie =) Hopefully it will be ok with my Emerald crab =D Oh and sorry about the "Nemo". I was in a rush since today is Fathers Day! OH and Happy Fathers Day!

they do need a hiding place to be secure..they like anenomes cause not too many live to tell about it
now it is possible the the emerald might not like him. but remember a crab is a crab is acrab. if it can make a meal out of something most usally will

Porcelain crabs are about the only true "reef safe" crab you can get. He may not get along with the emerald though. I have 2 ocellaris and 3 porcelain crabs. You will almost never see the crabs. They are filter feeders and like to hang upside down on my LR and in high flow areas. They are fun to watch when they filter feed. They don't have to have an anemone, and go wherever they please; but most will stay near the area of LR that you placed them around.

My Porcelain crab doesn't bother anything, and seems to get along okay with my emerald crab, althought that could be because he's really good at hiding. I didn't know crabs would host in anemones, I thought anemones eat most everything except clownfish. I've never seen my porcelain in my anemone.
I've actually had 3 porcelain crabs total, only 1 left. I only bought one, the other two came on my live rock. I'm not sure the cause of thier death.

Get one! hehe Like Smo said...they are truly reef-safe. Don't bother anything. Very peaceful, and too slow to hurt anything that's not already dead.
I absolutely LOVE mine. He's a trip.
with or w/out an anemone, they'll be fine. I had mine for 2 months before i got an anemone and he was doing great then...and now.
here's some pics of mine:

Alright! THank you for the replies and information everyone. =) Very helpful indeed. I think I plan on buying one soon sometime. But besides that... i'm so tempted to buy a Purple Nudibranch. They look soooo beautiful! Haha. But i've searched for past posts and read that they are expert leveled creatures. *Sigh* Oh well. =P I hope everyone is having a swell week!
Oh.. And i like your porcelian crab! It looks awesome!!
