Popping noise from tank.....

I've been hearing a loud popping noise coming from my tank lately...mostly with the lights off...but even during the day....my first guess was a mantis?...I've never seen anything...any other ideas?

Single pop could be a pistol shrimp. Rapid-fire popping could be a mantis.

OR it could be just a snail falling off the glass and hitting the glass on the way down
