poor guy
This leather just will not be happy. Does anyone have any suggestions on them, high/low light, high/low flow. A gentle stroking before it goes to bed? JK
The first picture is how he looks now, the second was the first day in the tank, he opened right away. Before you ask my water is fine, he is the only thing being shy.

how long has it been in your tank? did you put it near any other corals? that looks like the kind that requires medium light with medium water flow.

Any waxy film coming off him? I know when I had leathers from time to time they would shed a waxy film and then open up BIG
If this is the case just aim a PH toward them to keep them blown off and they should come around unless it's something else.
Also don't let the film land on anything else take it out of the tank.

I don't beleive he is molting, he's just closed up. There doesn't seem to be anything comming off of him. Perhaps I just need to be more patient, he has been in the tank 10 days now. I just want him to be happy.

no, the tank is only a few weeks old, so phosphate remover is a no no.
I am adding:
Kent marine products Iodine, liquid calcium & essential elements
the essential has iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum & potassium
I have a 90 gallon bow front, 3ft sump with return spray bar, skimmer & a charcol bag.
Anything else you think I need to add?

If you put him in the tank 10 days ago, and the tank is a few (2?) days old, the tank definitely wasn't ready for anything, even a leather. No wonder he isn't happy.
I'd sugest bringing him back to the lfs and get them to hold him for you for a month or so.
