Yeah, What DaveJ said. I would be hard pressed to say it any better.
The flow through the Refugium should be on the slow side of things. These this is so, to allow your live rock, sand bed, critters and Macro-algae/Mangroves or what ever enough contact time with the water to uptake nutreints.
Yeah refugiums rock! I enjoy mine almsot as much as the display tank too. The bio-diversity that can appear in them is unreal. There is always something new that I spot and wonder where it came from. They can be just as eye catching as the display tank too, like Casey's
Speaking of which...Casey, what are you growing in there? Is that Turtle Grass? What size tank is that? I am kinda curious as I would like to try out some Turtle Grass, but dont know anyone to get a first hand report from.

I think there some grass in there some where It is just a big mix of caulerpas and grasses they all seem to do well,I have brain corals in there cause they love to eat the pods then they plump up nicely,I kinda use it as a coral feeding tank also.It is 2o gal.

That it will! There is another advantage you can chalk up for having a refugium hooked up to your system.
Now that I am really kinda thinking about it...the Pros and Cons of a refugium that is. Are there really any disadvantages? I mean other than initial cost for set up which potentially can be cheap, and taking up a little more room, I really cant think of any others....

There are some potential problems with them. These should be taken with a grain of salt and assume that experiences may vary, but some I would say are:
1. Potential for a sink if its a DSB. Unless its very large in sq/footage it's not much help and would probably be problematic.
2. If you end up with an infestation of say red flat worms, a fuge is an added "tank" that needs to be cleared out. Some folks with worms have said the main tank has cleared despite them being in the fuge of course.
3. We tend to forget about things under our tanks so maintenance might slack off. This is bad... but is a training issue Trim that calurpa or risk it going sexual.
4. Another place for a leak or crack to develope.
5. IF you do have some unwanted critters, a fuge by design does not have predators so they will take off in there and it could end up being a breeding ground for problem critters.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Fuge!! I put mine in about 3-4months ago and it is crawling with life!! So much fun to watch and I know the fish love it when a pod makes its way into the display tank!!
I have attached a pic of the setup! It is important that the water flow not be to hard!! I have a ball value to adjust flow!!

That's cool clownfish. I'm thinking of setting one up similar to yours (10 gal a bit higher than main tank). Why do you have your water level halfway? To grow mangroves?

The mangroves arn't quite tall enough so they would be submerged if it went any higher...
