This fellow was on the very first LR I purchased over two years ago. He was very tiny then. Also was a few of the Aipastia, which I got rid of with pickling lime shots. It has taken this one two years to get this size and has never offered to multiply. It has been on the same rock all the time and the polyps was added one and a half years ago. Don't seen to bad to me and is really very colorful, unlike the pix. Thanks.

looks more like a button polyp of some sort. If you mess with it does it retract into a hole or just roll into itself? I've never read about an aiptasia looking like that.

yeah, i can only point to that article with the pic.
basically, 'pest' is anything that is destructive to the things in your tank that you like, is a headache to get rid of and usually multiplies rapidly smothering anything in its path in a bad way.
some say the same for mushrooms and xenia...

You could always do a taste test and let us know what type of toxicity reaction you get. That could help narrow things down a little.

I have a large one already. Two would just be trouble.

That does not look any aptasia I have ever seen, I vote polyp, I think it looks coool.
Besides if you had an aptasia that big next and that close to any corals I doubt they would be even open...

I don't think it's an aip either... what about a slow-growing discosoma mushroom? Those are cool, and they've never overrun my tank. (I have, like, 2 of them.)
Could also be an anemone... some of them don't wander much.

When a crab gets near or touches it, it closes like a shroom. I guess it does it eating from plantco which I use weekly. The colors are actually brighter than the pic shows.
He certainly does not bother anything. Thanks.
