Please critique my system

Hola everyone, I'm picking everyone's brains again. All right this is what I'm working with, a 55 gallon (48" long the height and depth I can't think of right now) with about 60lbs. of caribsea sand on top of crushed coral and shells (yes I now I realize I should have mixed these together or something now) resulting in about a 4" sand bed, about 44lbs of Fiji LR (almost entirely made up of passed over pieces, 2.50 a lbs. at premium aquatics hehe and yeah when I can afford it I want to get about 55lbs of LR in there), about 15 lbs of lace rock I got purely for decoration before I realized I should have bought LR.

The livestock I've got is 5 turbo snails, 5 blue leg hermit crabs, 6 bumblebee snails (girlfriend liked them), one peppermint shrimp, 3 4 stripe humbugs (damsels I need to trap), 1 yellow tailed damsel (the humbugs killed the other 2 by eating their tails) and one tomato clown, oh and some aptasia I'm hoping the peppermint eats =P.

As for hardware I've got an AquaC Remora HOT Skimmer w/MJ1200 pump, a Mj1200 powerhead, a no name powerhead, an emperor 400 filter, 1 big ol heater, and 2 NO lights (the next thing I think I need to upgrade)

That's pretty much it for now, the next thing I'm thinking about is
48" Coralife Aqualights from www.hellolights.com I know this will probably not be enough light for anemone's but I'll be content with leathers and what not for now.

Anyway if anyone sees anything I've forgotten or can think of anything I should consider please by all means let me know, if you can think of any fish or leathers or anything, please let me know! Btw the tank is just going on 2 months old

seems like you may have to many fish for a new tank, take your time stocking your tank. it is easy to get happy about a new tank and want to over stuff it in the begining. you might try removing the filter and let the DSB, LR and skimmer do it. iv heard that a established DSB can take 6-8 months. HTH. good luck and have fun with your slice of ocean.

I think Steve may be right on the number of fish. Not only is the system new but you are close to maxing the population IME and the territoriality of the damsels will make adding fish you really want later difficult
The substrate isn't what I would have chosen size and composition wise but I like DSB The key is to get either live sand from local reefers or utilize the detrivore kits available at out sponsor IndoPAcifiSeaFarms. The trick to functioning sand bed is diverse range of consumers.
Lastly, I dont like PC lights on 4 foot tanks, I think this would be a better way for you to go

440 watts vs 130, plus you can run standard 48" bulbs in it to save $ or if oine burns out on a weekend. Look at replacement costs on PC (9-12 mo) vs VHO (12-18 mo) Enjoy
I think for the extra $30-40 its a way better deal and way better setup

Hey thanks for the input! The reason I was going with the PC over vho's is mostly because I've got no hood and next to no tools to build anything and the PC unit would fit my existing setup without much work. Yeah I know I've probably got too many fish, definitely too many damsals and I'm just waiting till I can afford to replace the fish to start trapping the damsals with a 2 liter botter, just hope they fit thru the opening, they're getting big!
