Question

Pistol shrimp question

Hi-ya!

I am considering a pistol shrimp & goby combination for my 29 gallon tank (currently only housing a 1" green clown goby) but I was wondering about the clicking noise. If you have kept a pistol shrimp, can you tell me how loud it seemed to you? The reason I ask is because my tank is in my bedroom and I am a fairly light sleeper!

Also, what has been your favorite goby to pair with the shrimp? I can't decide which I like best!

Thanks!

I have a pistol/YWG combo. THe clicking can be quite loud but is fairly rare. It would not wake me up but may wake up lighter sleepers.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Not to my knowledge, but that would be cool!

I can't decide between a yellow watchman, hi-fin (banded/antenna, whatever name you like ) or a Randall's goby.

No the clowns are not shrimp gobies, but they are cute!

The hi-fin is one of my favorite gobies. As far as the clicking noise it's not all that often and it as Jeremy said, it doesn't happen a lot. I think they are a GREAT pair for a nano tank.

As long as the pistol shrimp is well fed, it will not bother anything.
Having a goby/shrimp pair will almost assure that the pistol is well fed, as long as the goby is well fed.

They MIGHT bother your fish/shrimp if you don't keep it fed.
I had a pistol shrimp housed with 3 peppermint shrimp, a wrasse, and a clownfish.
It didn't bother everything.
But I did target feed it frozen mysis every time I fed my fish.
