Pistol shrimp and shrimp goby

i have a randalls shrimp goby and had a pistol shrimp with him for a while until i moved my tanks and the pistol shrimp didnt make it. the pistol shrimp i had bonded with my shrimp goby and now that he is gone i am sure he played a role in protecting him from my hawkfish becasue it is open season now that he is gone. i havent seen any other shrimp like the one i had and the only ones i find on the internet are the bullseye, tiger and the randalls. my question is which one will most likely bond the name matching randalls, common sense might dictate that, but i would like to make sure. comments would be great

not sure i follow you totally..
the relationship withthe shrimp and goby is quite unique. the shrimp is basicaly blind, the goby moves in withthe shrimp to help protect him, the shrimp actually holds on to the tail of the goby as he digs and make the "cave" a little bigger..
when danger comes close to the cave, the goby will shake his tail and the shrimp hides.

as far as trying to match up who will be best.. that will be up to you as for color and size ..
the Randall shrimp goby is a pretty good guy for holding its own against any one..

the reason i say that is because my hawkfish never tried to go after my goby but since the shrimp is gone if he is around his hole and sees the goby poke his head out he dive bombs him, my goby has also been changing burrows every day he has about 4 in the tank and he has been rotating them. he will be in one hole and then the next morning after the lights come back on he will have moved himself to one of the others, so i am thinking he isnt really comfortable. So you are saying that my hawk fish will not be intimidated by the pistol? another question is how do i get the pistol shrimp in my tank with out the hawk going after him before he can get to a hole in the rock, or will he stay away because he knows the pistol can hurt him??

the hawk sounds like he knows the shrimp is gone, so he is "marking" his territory.
i belive if you decide to add a new shrimp to the tank he will back off.
once you flaot the shrimp adn he is ready to be released, open the bag or container next to one of the holes or claves made already.rearranging somer of the LR may also help. this will make everyone set up newer homes..
