Pink tip anemone

picked this guy up today.. he's already moved to another side of the rock.
also, ignore the algae mess.. i'm busy lately and my only turbo snail passed away last week when nitrates spiked from the new rock.

the tank is coming along nicely aside from the loss of my snail.
I'm pretty sure the tank is about 5 months old..
Just recently had to do some cleaning, so I ran the HOB filter. I actually plan on putting some chaeto macro algae in the HOB with no filter, and make some sort of lighting for it. that would pull some of the unwanted nutrients out and keep the flow going through the algae. any suggestions?

That's a beautiful anemone. Unfortunately it is bleached. Try keeping it fed well and hopefully it will recover. If you have the right lighting that is.
It would also be a very good idea to put sponges on the intake of the HOB and the power head.

the pictures do no justice for the vibrance of the anemone. the tank looks more colorful in person.

Best of luck with it .
I also agree that something (sponge) should be put on the PH and HOB intake .If the NEM wonders around at night that PH will pull him in if he gets too close . Keep a very good eye on stability (water parameters)with the nem . 10g evaporation can send salinity trough the roof in just a day or two .
Feeding would also be a good idea . Silversides cut in 1/4 inch pcs is a great choice .

My anemone crawled to the back of the rock out of sight.. is there any way to attract him to a more visible area? should I pick him up and move him to different (better) spots until he stays?

they will move around on their own no matter what. you could try a power head back there and maybe some heavy flow will push him out to a better viewing spot

It is probably trying to get out of the flow of the PH . That's why EC and I both stated that an open PH or inlet on a HOB is a dangerous combination with BTA. He will move around in the tank till it finds a spot it likes . You can always try to get him to set his foot in a hole in the LR but that doesn't always work . Just give it time and maintain a stable evironment and he will come aound .. Try getting something on them soon

Is that the thin T5NO fixture? Coralife does not make a T5HO fixture and none of their lights have individual reflectors. Assuming you have the 24in fixture, you have either 14w (single bulb) or 28w (double bulb) of lighting. Either way, your lighting is insufficent for keeping anemones.
