pic of Gary's 220 Reef under Radium and Actinic light

Here is a pic of my 220 gallon reef aquarium illuminated by one 400w Radium 20,000k MH and VHO actinic lighting.
I hope you can appreciate the different look of my aquascape.
Enjoy, and have a great weekend!

WOW, that's awesome! I love that style of aquascaping, natural and beautiful looking. Once I can afford to upgrade from my 40g to something large enough, I'm going to do something similar. Do you have any other pictures of it?

I love it how did you get the rocks to stack and not fall?

Hey Gary - nice deep water look in the tank now!! Not what I would do but I do like it! Does that make sense??? I'm sure it looks even better in person too(they always do). Is that a 5' or 6' tank?

I keep waiting for a big ol' shark to swim in from the deeper water!

Thanks for all the replies! Etech, the 400w Radium is juiced by a 'Blueline' electronic ballast.
Casey, the 'rockwork' {on the right side in the first pic} that may cause questions as to how it is stacked is actually a large table Acropora I've grown for many years. It has naturally grown attached to a rock and grew outward over the valley.
Big Dave, it's a 6 ft. 220. Still too small for most sharks, though! I appreciate your reply!
Chris and Nugg, this pic is for you.The shot is a couple of years old and taken from the other side of the aquarium {I have an 'island' tank}. The two 250w Iwasaki's are on in this photo in addition to the Radium and actinics.Big Dave, you might like this look better......?

Wow Gary, that rockwork is incredible! I like the "deep" coloration as well. Great job!

Paul.

I've done a lot of diving and I have to tell you that the picture is about as close to the real thing in an aquarium that I have ever seen. Way to be a little off the "beaten path." MM

Gary, as always your tank pics are stunning. If I may, here is a shot of my new 225, just after rock & fish were moved. Its also lit with a pair of 400w Radiums, but on a Bluewave ballast. A 400 65K will be centered between them later.

I tried a 400 55K in the center last night. So the lighting will be somewhat similar to yours.

Doug, congrats on the big tank! It's looking good already. In many ways, you'll find a bigger aquarium more stable and easier to maintain. Bigger is definitely better, IMO- except when it comes to cleaning the glass!

Know what you mean there Gary. Unlike yours, mine is built into the wall, so only access is from the back. Fun reaching the bottom front. And I need my wife to help attach the algae magnet.
