get the program IrfanView it will shrink your picturebut still maintain quality.
If you have a 7 megapixel camera one picture holds alot of information and it may be to big

IMO 800x600 is a pretty good size for posting...big enough to see, but not a huge file

looks like it might be Ca based...could also be terrestrial lace rock which is not that great for a reef...hard to tell...where did you get it? Can you ask them what it is?
