Photoperiods and Kelvin Ratings?

If simulating a morning with two bulbs before bringing on the day lights, how long should the first two stay on before the rest fire?

As for amount of time light should be on, does this differ from the type of light source you use? Ive seen 12 hour photoperiods and 8 some 10. Would PC/VHO vs MH be a different cycle to utilize the coral? OR! (a thought) is it dependent on the type of creatures you have in your tank?

How dramatically do the colors change from different kelvin ratings? x2 10,000 and x2 actinic makes for super blue tank? I do like the blue glow effect but don't want to "OVER" do it any have suggestions for bulb setups as far as kelvins go?

Thanks !

I run approx 12 hr photo period, with the act coming on at 11 and the day lights kicking on at noon, then shutting off at 10 pm followed by the act going off at about 11 pm. Thats just my offset so I can spend time not watching the tank cause I am on here
MH are frequently on 8-10 hrs a day, trying to simulate the changing light levels over the coarse of the day. Of course this is a simplistic approach to it, but a popular option, and as always the exact choice of lighting type, color, intensity and duration will definatly depend on what you are keeping
