photoperiod suggestion

looking into mh lighting... thinking a lumens reflector and either 150 or 250w 14k de bulb with actinic supps. keep in mind this is mainly a softy and lps tank, 24" tall. how long should i run the mh light if i get it?? for 150w and for 250w. was hoping if i got the 150w i could run it a little longer.
