Phosphate removal

As I started to use Kent phosphate sponge my clams began to not open. first my crocea reacted very quickly(over night) and now my Gigas is only open about 25 %.

This product claims to not leach aluminum into the water as "other" products may but I was wondering If anyone else had this type of reaction using this or any other media.

Ive used this b4 and noticed a similar reaction by the Crocea for about 1 1/2 days then he returned to normal. This stuff works REALLY well in my system and would like to continue using it(xcept for the obvious reasons).

As a side note my corals, sps, lps, and softies seem to not mind at all

I don't know for sure but it SOUNDS like you are waiting too long and using too much of this stuff and its resulting in drastic changes in your water chemistry. I have heard of clams reacting to sudden carbon addition the same way so I would probably try to keep water parameters more stable next time you change out. Maybe less and more frequently to prevent the drastic reaction of your clams?

I had to buy a phosphate removal for my tank a while back because my phosphates were high. The only thing my LFS sold was Phos Zorb. This stuff has been working great!!
