Phosphate


I have been hearing from some lfs that the agrcultored live rock comimg out of the gulf of Mexico starts to leach phosphates after a while anyone else here any thing like this my rock sure is looking good but not sure of this phosphate deal

I would guess that virtually all live rock that endures the "curing" process and shipping will experience major dieoff, and given that all life forms utilize and lock phosphates, it's gonna leach some at first
Read the barebottom threads in the Think Tank forum for detailed descriptions of the issue.
Bottom line, cure new rock well past the nitrogen cycle point, until the rock stops shedding detritous from the die-off HTH
