Phosban Reactor 150

I got a Phosban reactor and media for my birthday and was wondering how much media to use when I initially setup the reactor? I have read several posts on here about people who have had RTN with their SPS due to using too much media and too high a flow rate initially. The instructions say to use a minimum of 120 grams which, from what I remeber people say, that is TOO much and will lead to Fe release in the water and RTN in SPS.

Any advice from those that have used the reactor before?

I have one, but never installed it. I'm using a few tablespoons of phosban in a media bag floating in the sump. Seems to be working OK. I think that people recommend using a 1/4 of the recommended dose. I'm sure someone who knows will answer you soon.

Ok, I have been trying to find some of the threads that talk about the Phosban media in regard to sps coral health and how much to use. I know I've seen people talking about having problems using the full amount of media recommended by the instructions in reagard to sps bleaching and RTN, but I can't seem to find the threads now.

I used about half the recommended dose and had no issues. I have looked into this a lot and I think you will be totally fine. Just get the right pump (I think I have a MJ400) and regulate the flow per the instructions.

Below is an article that was recommended to me to address my concerns. Take a look and shoot the author questions. I think he has a forum.

Hope it helps ... Dan

Also ... I just posted some newer pics... as you can see everything is fine with the Phosban reactor.
