Ph Jump

I decided to test the water after topping off tonight. Apparently the top off water, which always has the same amount of Kalk, made the Ph jump from 8.1 to 8.6. The tank is mostly LPS, with some Zoos and SPS. The soonest I can get new water in the tank is about 18 hours away. Anyone ever have this happen before? What should I be looking for? I can ask some local people to house my corals tommorrow if this seems to be doing harm.

i have never had a ph that high after taesting , but if you test in the morning and in the night time you will or should get two different numbers for ph and SG.. usally lower in the morning for me...
is your top off water in a holdiing container? if so maybe there is a break down in it to cause the water to rise..

HTH
