ph help


i have the red sea ph test kit the color the test tube turns to is not on the chart (blue) what does that mean too high or too low need help

Welcome to TRT ! Sounds like there might be too much regent . Can you tell me how your testing it . Just to make sure your testing properly .

no test kit will give you any decent value of pH. Unless you're using a recently calibrated probe to get a pH measure, I wouldnt trust the result. Also, it's hopeless to try to manage pH in a tank in any case, so I don't find it all that important to measure it. As long as your calc and alk are in place, the pH will take care of itself.

I was referring to the drops of reagent used and water quantity etc.
Alot of people add 5ml of water to the test vial . In the Rea Sea you add 6 ml.of water .

one word: PinPoint.

Kits induce so much error and interpretation of the results is so subjective that most pH test kits are of litle use in the marine hobby, especially when trying to dial in a pH controller for a calcium reactor (the controllerand probe, that is; rather than a meter, but the concept is the same).

Pinpoint test meters and probes have the best adhearance to calibration of the hobby meters and require the least amout of maintenance to stay fairly accurate.
