Question

PFO HQI Ballast works for Mogul HD bulbs??

It seems from the following link http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issu...004/review.htm
That the tests that were performed were done using the PFO HQI M80 using Mogul type bulbs. It seems that this ballast beat all the others fairly dramatically in performance for nearly all bulbs tested. If anyone knows first hand weather this ballast will work or not with mogul based bulbs I would really like to know. Thx alot for your help!

A magnetic ballast will drive the bulbs harder than an electronic ballast. They will burn brighter. However they are harder on the bulbs and the bulb life is sacrificed, also they generate excessive heat and drive up energy costs. An electronic ballast like icecap, will give you longer bulb life and save you money on your electric bill. Plus if you ever want to switch bulbs you won't have to worry about the ballast being able to fire the bulbs. The only bulbs that an icecap will not fire is the xm double ended bulbs. I am a fan of icecap for their service, support, the decrease in electrical costs, they run cooler and extend bulb life. It is a tough decision I spent a good month on constant research on bulbs, ballasts, and reflectors. I wanted to make sure that saving a $100.00 would be worth it in the long run. From the electrical savings and bulb savings that I get compared to a magnetic ballast, and the flexibility it was worth it to spend the extra dough to get the icecaps. Remember the old saying "Pay now or pay more later"
