Percula Clown Problem

Hello,

I have purchased two percula clown fish, one on Sat. and one on Sun. I acclimate them correctly and then after, I see them swimming around normal. After I turn out the lights, later, it is also lights out for the fish. The first one I did not know it had died until the morning, and the second, two hours after the lights were turned off. Can anyone explain why this is happening. I took the water to the LFS and all of readings were good.

They both were about and inch and a half long. I also have a Yellow Tang, Kole Tang, Blue Tang, Porcupine Puffer and a Cleaner Wrasse. All of these fish are larger but not that much. I did see the Blue Tang bother the clown for really short time at first but for the remainder of the day, nothing. The clown swam around acting normal and nobody bothering him.

Has anyone had this happen before? It just seems weird.

Thanks!

i think you answer is right there, clowns needs a male /female dominate realationship, were the female is bigger and in charge. it is possible that they were picking at each other ( fighting) when the lights were turned out. i dont think th eother fish would have been much trouble on them.
this is a reason you might lose one but not usually both..

also find out what the SG level of the store is. i woudl not rely on the LFS to do your readings if you can.

Well, I may of not made myself clear. I bought one on Sat. and it died. I then had it replaced on Sun. and then it later died. Weird. I have a feeling that the fish store is not going to honor credit a second time. It just doesn't make sense.

Thanks!

Everything can be right in your tank but the tranfer from one system to another is very hard on a fish, A weak fish or fishes will have a harder time adjusting,

You need to get in the habit of testing your own water, that way You know for sure that the test was correct.

Sounds to me like your pet shop is keeping them in low specific gravity water and you are keeping your tank at reef tank specific gravity.
If that's the case, no amount of acclimation will get them there in one day. You should take several days to raise their specific gravity.
