penductor

Can I use one of these on my return to increase flow?
I will be using a little giant 3mdqxsc pump for return at about 5 ft of head.

Are these ok to use on returns?
Do they make more mater pump from the sump to the tank?
Would it interfear with the sump/ overflow flow rate?

Thanks

they might change the over flow rate a little, but if it does it will be less, they cause alot of back pressure on the pump, and you need a high pressure pump to get it to work right.

What is a penductor. How is it different from an eductor? Are these sort of like venturis?

so basicly andy if I use it it will decrease the flow rate of water being pumped from the sump to tank, which is ok becuase I was going to throtle the pump down some with a gate valve anyway, and then produce more turbulance in the tank?

I'm not certain that pump can deliver 10psi at 4'... With the shut off being at 14'. You may, and I stress may, be very disappointed in the performance.

Sorry I'm not Andy

Looking at the spec sheet, it doesn't look like the pump is going to do it. It may give you about the same flow, but in a more desireable flow pattern...

Have you looked for a used squirt or super squirt? You may like that way better than a swirl... but it's your choice

If you put a penductor on your system, odds are it will cut down on the amount flowing from your Sump to display tank. It will give you a slight increase in flow in your tank though.

What the penductor does is pull water into the stream of water that it is shooting out, thus increasing the amount of flow in your tank. This does not mean that it increases the GPH of your pump.

Great explanation on this!

Josh, Yup we're on the same page, but the pump he wanted to use is not capable of delivering the psi to the penductor to really increase the flow It doesn't deleiver 10psi at the pump, at 4-5 feet of head it looks like it's only capable of about 2.8-3 psi. If I ran my numbers right on that we would be pushing his pump nearly to it's shut off head before it makes it out of the educator to pull more water

zxcv123. the link you provided is a super squirt. The little brother to the 4-way that I use. You plum it to the output of your pump. It has 4 outputs that you plumb into the tank and it randomizes the flow as it puts water to 1 or two of the outputs at a time.

You can check out oceansmotions.com for some more info and pics... But I love them...
