That is cool. Do you hear it *SNAP*? I'd like to get one but am afraid it might break my glass tank.

Thanks everyone for the compliments!
Jodi I feed the mantis a live shrimp or snail from time to time and my home made mush as well.
Here is a couple more pics of the mantis I took with a flash.

Hey ruhspolostar!
The mantis can definately smash hermit and snail shells to pieces with ease!

Nice pics, Johnny!
Mantis shrimp are definitely a conversation piece, very interesting critters.
What does Pat think of Zeke?

Thanks all! Alice Pat was a little tentative at first after seeing it but now she walks right up to the tank and talks to it so that's cool.. Awesome predators they are! Wish I had gotten one a long time ago!

Hi, Johnny! Great pics!
I've been getting a snapping/popping sound from my tank since I set it back up about 2.5 weeks ago. I'm beginning to think it may be a mantis or a pistol shrimp even though I have not been able to see anything. I transfered a couple rocks from my sisters 40g to my 55 and the sounds seem to be coming from one of those. How can you tell for sure if you never see anything? If I do have one, I figure it is small, even so, how much of a threat would it be to my fish? (2 clown gobies, yellow watchman, 2 oscie clowns, and a tang)
