PC Lighting choice

It's time to replace my PC bulbs on my 48" CSL fixture. SunPaq is the new name and they offer more choices now.

What does everyone recommend?
1) Actinic - use original 460, new 420 or the combo 460/420?
2) Daylight - use 10,000, 6,700 or the combo 10,000/6,700?

Hello,

What do you have in your tank?

I have a 125 gal tank that is 60" long so I got the Orbit 60" PC fixtures (two of them) and they have the combo bulbs in them. I can tell you that they are very bright bulbs and my 125 to the eye looks brighter than the MH clam tank at my LFS. I need to get a lux meter one of these days.

Anyway, I've been very happy with the SunPaq lamps so far, the Orbits came with the dual Actinic and Dual Daylight. The 10,000 k is a "white" light, the "6,700" is a "yellow" light, the 460 is Blue and the 420 is purple.

Hope this helps

I cannot comment on the actinics as all of our blues look great. Going for the 10,000 K though really brightened things up. That yellow look from the 6700 K really made the tank look sort of like the children's pool.

I agree I would much rather use the 10000K over 6700 K bulbs any day. I am also using the dual actinic, and I like that too, although the 10000k fades out the blue.
