You might just want to wait. If the corals (soft I guess) are doing ok then you are fine.

If it was my tank, I would add 2 more pc's if I stuck with soft coral, or two or three 250 watt MH if I went to SPS.

I have 6 55 watt pc's on my 75 gallon and now I wish I had gone with four 55's and two 175 MH.

Don't deny the force of the SPS corals....The force is strong.....And you will give in......yes you will.

Well you can add more PC lights but then the replacement cost of bulbs goes up. At this point I would look at 3x175 watt Metal halide but I am not fond of 55 watt actinic, the 96 watt has a true actinic, Then again I like VHO, so yes I am biased. I think PC are fine on small tanks but on bigger ones the cost gulf increases, IMO and only that

Question

PC Lighting

Hi everyone. I have a 125g rectangle tank with 2 -96w pc daylight and 2 -96w Actinic. This about 3w per gallon. I have read through previous threads and understand that this is a minimum amount. I want to add more light but i am not sure if I would be better off adding two (2) more 96w PC's or compliment my PC lighting with (2) 175w or 250w metal halides. Any input would be greatly appreciated. (I currently do not keep SPS)

Thanks Joe

MH are best but generate alot of heat. You might try VHO's I love mine.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I was leaning toward complimenting my PC's with halides and that sounds like the best option.

I think that I am hooked on PC's because I can get them cheaper than VHO.

But Doug is right about the VHO being good on a big tank. The local LFS I go to just lays 6 foot VHO's on top of the bigger tanks.
