Pbearslax36's Return Pump Setup: Tell me if its ok

OK guys tell me if this is correct. i am going to get the mag drive 950 gph. The outflow on the pump has a 3/4" male thread. So i have a 3/4" ball valve w/ female threads on both sides. Next a 3/4" male thread adapter. And 3/4" flexible tubing with some plastic ratchet clamps. So take a gander at the pics below and tell me if they will work. Thanks.

Yea should work. I use a mag 9.5 on my seaswirl return. I cant say I am impresses with the flow. I am looking at replacing it with a MAG 12 which I originally didnt go with because Sea swirl didnt reccommend it.

Good luck!

Well if I get the mag 950gph, it will have a flow of 600gph at 7'. I am only looking for a flow of 350 from overflow to skimmer to pump. So hopefully it will work. Does it not work that well because of head pressure? How far is it from the pump to the water outlet? What type of flow do you want?

Now here is the real question. If my pump will do 600gph, and I put a ball valve on it to slow it down to 350gph, how do i know how far to turn the valve, to close it enough to let only that flow through?

that will be by Sight. look how things are in the tank, what was your over flow rated for again? look at the sump water level and the tank water level.
