Question

Parasite?

This morning when I woke and flip on the lights in the room I noticed a black speck attached to the side of my clown fish. The speck was a little smaller than bb size and was sticking out from the skin of the clown. And when I went to try to catch the fish the thing disappeared. There appears to be some kind of spot where this things was on the skin. Is this some kind of parasite? Should I be concerned? What can I do?

Would a cleaner shrimp or perhaps a neon goby help?

Identification is key. There are millions of little "bugs" in the eco system. Try and snap a pic next time you see him, or try and take a better description of it. This will help greatly in the indentification process.....Anthony

I recently lost a prize GSM Clown to internal parasites. If it is a parasite, you have to identify is as best as possible. I would also remove the fish if possible, and any others in there until you can figure out what it is. Deny the food and it will die off eventually.
